Mary Page Whitley Artist Biography and Statement

Mary Page Whitley resides in Kinston, North Carolina with her husband Bob Whitley, an attorney, and they have two sons,  Whit and Ben. She graduated from East Carolina University and taught in the public schools.  She later returned to ECU to study with Paul Hartley.

Her recent studies have been with Ian Roberts, Peggy Kroll-Roberts, West Frasier,  Scott Christensen, Gay Faulkenberry,  Rick McClure,  Camille Pzrewodek, Connie Winters and Ovanes Berberian.

She is a plein-air and studio painter and enjoys painting in workshops and paint-outs on art travels across the USA and Europe.

"I try to capture a moment in time that I am participating in and hopefully I will be able to share the moment with others.  Art is truly a universal phenomenon that has transcended all barriers of time, space and cultures.  To be a part of this world is breathtaking and fulfills a passion within me."
